Stretch/Inspiration
Matthew 6:25-34
We have so much to be anxious about…national security, politics, health, finances, family, societal influences, etc. If we let them, our anxieties will overwhelm us and cause unnecessary stress and tension in relationships and life. My constant battle is determining if I need to let go of my stress and trust that God is in control and being too passive and not taking any steps to reduce stress in a healthy way. I always come back to these two verses:
“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
Matthew 6:27 NIV
“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Matthew 6:34 NIV
In general, I try and remind myself that I can not control the thoughts and actions of others. So why stress out about things outside of my control?
