The Thang: After the warm-up we started The Thang with a visit from Roxanne because there’s nothing like 6,000 burpees in 3 1/2 minutes to get the heart pumping. We did a burpee at every “Roxanne” in the song which totals 26 in 3:12 with jumping jacks in between. Not bad. Next we alternated between rounds of exercises using the ten benches surrounding the chapel and tabata work. Between benches we bear crawled, duck walked and lunged. Here’s how it worked: Bench round 1: 5 push-ups at each bench; Tabata round 1: alternate between leg raises and superwomans; Bench round 2: 5 step-ups each side at each bench; Tabata round 2: alternate between lateral tuck jumps and single leg deadlifts; Bench round 2: 5 dips at each bench; Tabata round 3: single leg glute bridges.
Our inspiration was all about staying positive in the midst of all the negativity. The keys are to practice gratitude, surround yourself with positive people/things, and focus on helping others. Have you ever felt bad while genuinely helping someone else? I doubt it. Read Proverbs 1:25, Philippians 2:3-4 and John 15:12 for encouragement.
